Poem: Plastic

Spastic plastic litters our world

it’s infiltrated everything

Our oceans are heaving

Foaming at the mouth

with mountainous islands of shit

Fake floating bits

of inedible toxic

Toys shoes boxes

containers bags bowls

even poop emoji hairpins.

Plastic was the ultimate

miracle product

to wrap and to hold

cheap inexpensive to make

our world one huge dump

Convenience makes us

wasteful fools

destroying our only home

with things we never needed.

Yes. New Zealand have been making progress banning plastic bags for example. There’s positive signs but it feels a little too late in some ways

      2. I’m glad some countries have sense, the plastic bags were banned in California where I live in the US, but the big businesses found a way to bring them back. Corporations are the major problem, no accountability.
