Poem: Orphan song

Whales, guille pozzi, unsplash.com

I never felt like I belonged

anywhere or to anyone

felt like I was predestined

to be an orphan

When your family can’t understand you

and your few friends can’t relate

that’s what I mean by orphan.

Maybe I should just be grateful

for the love I was given

Lovers were the closest I came

to having a home

but all of them have left

or I’ve left them

before they could accidentally

kill me or kill themselves,

I was always trying to save them

and save myself through them

but it was impossible

because no one

not even living Angels

or Bodhisattvas

can save you from yourself.
