Poem : Beauty

Beauty was our primary worth,

our female obligation.

Being beautiful

was a protection,

like an amulet of good.

Then your peacock

husband master,

would stay faithfully

with you until death.

But if you were cursed

with ugliness,

you deserved to be cheated on,

raped, butchered and abandoned.
